Sub Juniors Head Coach

“Calisthenics – the game of life.…” Ginny truly believes that everything that she values in life has been positively influenced by her lifelong love affair with this sport. For this reason she is very, very excited to be coaching our Sub Juniors in 2023.

 

Ginny is celebrating 45 years as a calisthenics performer this year. She has a healthy respect for looking after your body and enjoys teaching our students how to safely twist themselves in knots as well as the basics for the beginners! Her 35+ years of coaching have lead her on a journey of discovery to develop the potential in every student that comes through her class.

 

From the self-discipline required to improve flexibility, strength and performance, to the social skills needed to negotiate throughout their whole lives, Ginny continues to cherish the opportunity to positively influence these up and coming members of our society

NICOLE S

Red Tinies Head Coach

Nicole has been involved in and passionate about calisthenics for over 30 years, performing for almost all of those years and says the sport is truly a part of her. She feels fortunate for having the opportunity to experience various divisions of the sport, including performing at championship level.


Nicole’s coaching career started 10 years ago and has included assisting with Sub-Juniors and Seniors, a Recreational Coach for Tinies, 3 years as a Cali kids coach in schools as well as being involved in the Active After Schools programs.

Nicole is looking forward to returning to coach the Red Tinies in 2023, growing her skills and expanding her experience.

SONIA C

SIlver Tinies Head Coach

Sonia has been performing for 38 yrs and a qualified Calisthenics Coach for 28 yrs. 

Beginning her love of Calisthenics at age 8 at Springvale North (recreational), she then began competing at Monash (Div 5), Emmanuel (Championship) – where she also assisted their Tinies and Juniors for 10 yrs and is now competing in Masters at Kingston. 

 

She has coached Tinies through to Masters in both competition (Div 3-10) and recreational teams during her 28 yrs. She has also enjoyed coaching children with disabilities, teaching Calisthenics in primary schools, teaching pupil skills and coaching both solo and duos.  

 

With an emphasis on detail and technique, Sonia loves to pass on her vast knowledge of Fitness, Latin/Ballroom, Jazz/Ballet, Contemporary/Lyrical dance styles and of course her first love – Calisthenics. Helping every pupil learn, grow in confidence and become better performers is what she believes coaching is all about.

Juniors Head Coach

Tameka began her calisthenics journey as a sub junior at Heathergene and quickly after began assisting at the age of 10. Since then she has had the pleasure of assisting and coaching in all sections from Tinies to Seniors as well as successful solos and skills.

 

Tameka gained her Level 1 accreditation in 2020 and when not doing calisthenics she is studying to become a health and physical education teacher, working with children and spending time with her family.

Intermediates Head Coach

Rachael began her calisthenics journey as a last year junior and immediately fell in love with the family atmosphere that calisthenics provides. She immediately went on to pursue her goal to become a coach and has coached subbies, juniors, inters & master sections.

 

Rachael enjoys coaching solos and duos where she can offer opportunity to individuals to learn and grow outside of a team environment in a more personal class setting. She loves working one on one with individuals to help them find their confidence and love for their own personal style.

 

Rachael has a strong eye and passion for deportment, precision, and the impact of a performance, she cannot wait to see what the 2023 inters can bring to the floor!

KATE B

Seniors Head Coach

Kate has been involved in Calisthenics for the past 30 years – the last 16 as a coach. She was lucky enough to work under some talented coaches as a competitor and learnt many skills she still applies to her coaching today.

​

Kate has worked with Duos, Graceful and Calisthenic Soloists in the Novice, Open Reserve and Open sections, taught pupil skills including medals as well as teams of Sub Juniors through to Seniors.

​

Kate enjoys the creativity involved in calisthenics and the freedom it allows to express yourself as well as the many life long and strong friendships made along the way.  Whilst Kate enjoys the fancy items, she would happily watch March and Clubs items all day.

​

Kate was also lucky enough to travel to the USA as an Assistant Coach of the Elite Performance Team in 2016 and currently stands as the Sterling Calisthenics President.  Kate is very much looking forward to returning to the Senior section in 2023!

EMMA W

Masters - Rubies Head Coach

Emma has been involved in Calisthenics for over 30 years and has been a qualified coach for 17 of those years, working with Tinies through to Masters, gaining many aggregate and reserve aggregate titles, most proudly, the RSSS title and several State Championship titles. Her experience working with many successful coaches has provided Emma with an understanding of various coaching styles and techniques which she applies to her coaching. Emma has also coached successful solos and duos including a Junior National Duo team.

​

Outside of coaching, Emma has been involved in several committees including VCCA and CV State Team in 2017 and When not involved in Calisthenics, Emma enjoys spending time with her three children, living life on the Mornington Peninsula.

​

Emma is very excited to work with the newest Sterling team - the Rubies in 2023!

Our Coaches are fully qualified with Level 1 VCCA Accreditation, hold Level 1 First Aid Certificates and current Working with Children checks.

 

They are required to continually update their skills (including first aid and Child Safety) through various requirements set by the Victorian Calisthenics Coaches Association (VCCA).
